Pork in Jakarta: Bun Ong (Restaurant Review)

Bun Ong Kelapa Gading

The restaurant: a bit dodgy

The restaurant did not look very promising from the outside, but it was already late and not so many restaurants were opened, so we gave it a try anyway.

The place was a bit messy and "dodgy". Sticky tables, some flies...

The food: a bit disappointing

The dishes looked quite promising in the first place, but tasted just okay. The pork meat was not very tasty, maybe a bit old?

Bubur is not my favorite dish, and this one could unfortunately not change my opinion.
The pork sate (Balinese style) was a bit disappointing. Very dry and not tender. The nasi campur was nice, but nothing special. The broth served with the nasi campur was bitter and very 'veggie'. I don't think they really used meat to make it.

Only the cakwe was really nice, or maybe that's just because I basically like all cakwe everywhere.

The food looks delicious on the pictures, but that is because of the talented photographer. In reality it looked just fine :-)
